I played Palm Valley Golf Course

Last week I played at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Sun City Summerlin and had a great time. Other than getting stuck in a sand trap (took me 3-tries to get out) I scored pretty well for me. Remember I'm just a hacker and usually score in the low to mid 90's.

The fairways were terrific, the greens fast and a little bumpy, but the overall play was fun. I can't complain.

What I do find I object to, even though I know it's for our own good, is the social distancing. We were told on several occasions to separate ourselves at least 6-feet, both on the greens and tee boxes. Forget about the usual fist bump after a great putt. Let alone the congratulatory handshake (now elbow shake) at the 18th home finish.

Now that the weather has exceeded the 100 degree mark each day I'm not sure when I'll play again. For me, not being a very good golfer, the heat just takes away what fun I do have. I'll let you know when I play again.

GOLF IS BACK!

Golf is back! Wow, terrific. I was becoming really bored. I had the opportunity to play both Highland Falls Golf Course in Sun City Summerlin and the Palm Valley Golf Course, also in the Del Webb Community of Sun City Summerlin.

Both Courses are in terrific condition. Greens fast but in great shape. The only objection I had was the courses instructions to be sure everyone maintains 6-feet of separation. Not easy to do when you all congregate at the Tee Box at the same time, and all meet at the same green. The courses also only allow one person to a cart, no ice or waters provided.

How did I play? . . .I'm a "Hacker", what do you expect. But, I had a great time! I shot mid-90's both days.

The views at Highland Falls from the back nine are spectacular. You can see the entire city from there and it was a very clear day. Next to Eagle Crest Golf Course, also in Sun City Summerlin, this is the highest elevation of a course in the Las Vegas valley.

Golf in these trying Pandemic Times

Sitting at home on a beautiful day, on a golf course, but closed temporarily due to the Corona Virus, I am itching to get out there.

For everyone's safety, we are told to quarantine. Bummer! But I'm being good and don't want to be the cause of spreading any of this virus.

At the end of this quarantine, I plan to spend much more time on the course to try to make up for "lost time". I'm still a lousy golfer but really do enjoy the sport. I even have my own golf cart now so I look like I know what I'm doing.

When it is declared "safe" to come out and play, check out GolfVegas.com for all of your golf reservation needs. Book any Las Vegas or nearby courses, both Local "Nevada Resident" rates and "Non-Resident" rates available.

Look forward to seeing you all out there on these exciting Las Vegas courses.
